Hello,
Thank you for your interest in joining our Sideline Spirit Teams this season. We offer various teams for children ages 4 and up. This year, the tryout process is virtual and we have provided a few simple steps below to complete the process. As a reminder, all athletes will be placed on a team. This tryout is simply a method that we use to evaluate your athlete's skill set to determine which team would be the best fit for them this season. Returning cheerleaders are exempt from the tryout process this year, however they may complete the process if they would like to get a jump start on learning material for the upcoming season and receive feedback from our coaches.
A. Tryout Steps
Step #1: Learn the Tryout Material! Click here to view our tryout material playlist. All athletes should only learn the chant and dance for tryouts. Athletes ages 4-8 should only learn the chant and dance specified for their age group. You can find the tryout music on our website under the Team Tryouts Tab.
Step #2: Practice. Practice. Practice.
Step #3: Record a video of yourself performing each section of the tryout: Video #1: Chant and Video #2: Dance
Step #4: Upload your videos to your YouTube account. Make sure you post your videos as UNLISTED so the videos can only be seen by those with whom you've shared the direct link.
Step #5: Submit your tryout videos by completing the S! VIRTUAL CHEER TRYOUT GOOGLE FORM by Monday, August 31st, 2020 at noon. It is encouraged to submit the videos within 3 days of learning the material. NOTE: To submit your videos, provide the YouTube link to each of your videos in the online Google form. This can be done by sharing the video, copying the link and pasting the link in the form.
B. Tryout Attire New tryout candidates may wear any athletic attire that they are comfortable wearing. Returning cheerleaders may wear their Sideline Spirit uniform or practice wear. No poms.
C. Video Criteria
All videos must be recorded in a well lit area.
The background of the videos should be clutter free.
All videos should be recorded so that the judges can see the candidate perform all material from head to toe.
Once you have submitted your form, we will follow up with you via email within 4-5 business days to let you know which team your athlete has been placed on for the upcoming season.
Next Steps:
Register for our Team Cheer Camp taking place August 3-7 (9-12pm). Click here to register.
A parent meeting will take place on Tuesday August 11th at 6pm to address any questions and discuss plans for the upcoming season. Note: The fall schedule will be released on August 1st and team practices will begin on September 1st.
We wish your athlete the best of luck! Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions.
Cheers,
Sideline Spirit
