Meet our featured cheerleader...

Hannah Darling

This month’s featured cheerleader is Hannah Darling. Written by her mother, Nannette Darling.

Hannah is an 8th grader at Krimmel Intermediate, she just made the Klein Oak High School Freshman Cheer team. She currently takes multiple classes at Sideline Spirit and works with multiple coaches to gain the experience needed for game day. This is her experience with Sideline Spirit.

Hannah was a AAYFDT WildKat Cheerleader for 5 years before joining Sideline boot camp.  She has been a member of Sideline Spirit boot camp team for the last three years, hoping to gain knowledge and skills for a chance to make her middle school cheer team.

Hannah trained hard for each middle school cheer team tryout, but unfortunately did not make it her first (7th grade) or second attempt (8th grade).  Hannah was very discouraged and even considered quitting, but ultimately decided press on!  More determined than ever, she continued to attend Sideline Spirit with one goal in mind,….to make the Klein Oak squad.

In addition to Sideline Spirit boot camp team, Hannah participated in Spirit Dance, Tumbling (beginner, Intermediate, and back handspring), motion tech, Jump Tech, Operation Tryout, and First 15.

Hannah knew she had some fierce competition going into the high school freshman tryouts, it was the same group of girls she went up against the last 2 tryouts, all her fellow friends from middle school were awesome and experienced cheerleaders.

With the high school tryouts approaching, Hannah said  “I knew it was time to buckle down and really fight hard for a spot on the team,….. my dream and show my passion for cheer”.  Hannah attended multiple classes, multiple nights a week, and worked with almost all the Sideline Spirit coaches.  Each coach had a valuable tool and unique advice they equipped her with each session. Most importantly, each coach said “smile, show ’em what you got, and most of all – HAVE FUN”.  That is the culture created at Sideline Spirit.

After three long years of sore muscles, long nights, multiple classes, and many long hours of practice, finally success!! On her third cheer tryout attempt, SUCCESS.  Hannah is now a Klein Oak HS cheer leader, eager to show her Panther Pride!  Hannah was fortunate enough to have coach Rachel Gorman relay the information of finally achieving success. Rachel called and told Hannah she had made the Klein Oak Squad!

“This accomplishment would not have been possible without ALL my coaches”! it’s not just Hannah’s success, but the joint effort with the entire Sideline family.

“Sideline is not just a gym, but a place where my family is. I cant wait to comeback and hopefully pay it forward by being a coach to another generation for cheerleaders” says Hannah.
